Today’s Wireless LAN Standard(IEEE 802.11)

IEEE 802.11-the original wireless LAN standard that specifies one or two Mbps data transfer rates using both 2.4GHz unlicensed radio frequencies (RF) and infrared light-based transmission technologies. The RF technologies include both frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) and direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS). This standard was ratified by IEEE in 1997, revised vin 1999, corrected again in 2001, and finally reaffirmed in 2003.
